Let’s Keep Our New Year’s Resolutions to Get Healthy!

April 3, 2013

For many of us, we have the best intentions to make lifestyle changes when a new year begins. As the days, weeks and months pass by it is easy to break this promise we make to ourselves. It is so important to remember the consequences of doing this can be life-changing.
We are here to help you get back on track! One way that you can gain motivation, insight and accountability is by using Smartphone apps. Your plan is then always with you giving alerts and tips throughout your busy day. Here are some suggestions from Dr. Oz and his colleagues as to some of the best apps to try: http://www.doctoroz.com/videos/health-apps-work-pt-1

Healthy eating, daily workouts, and getting an annual physical are all good ways to help your physical and mental well-being. One of the most important areas of your body, your mouth, is often overlooked in this process. Often times this missing link is the key in getting many systemic health issues under control.

As recently reported by the Journal of Dental Research and the CDC, close to half of American adults have some form of gum disease. At the Clinton Township dental office of Dr. Mindy Salzberg-Siegel, we offer several effective forms of periodontal therapy to help you restore your oral health. Scaling and Root Planing, Arestin antibiotic placement and Peridex Medicated Irrigation are only a few of the methods used to help with Periodontal disease.

Not only will this type of oral health check up improve your overall health, but give some insight into causes of bad breath that others may not be telling you about. The Oxyfresh Fresh Breath System is offered by dental professionals to assist in eliminating bad mouth odors by breaking down volatile sulphur compounds in the mouth. This almost tasteless rinse can help fight bad breath and help you feel fresh throughout the entire day. Please call our office to find out how Dr. Mindy Salzberg-Siegel can help 586-416-1444.

With Another School Year around the Corner, Have You Scheduled Your Child’s Back-to-School Visit?

August 4, 2012

It seems like August just started, but already parents everywhere are getting their kids ready for a new school year. That means shopping for new clothes, stocking up on pens, paper, and binders, and looking for a sturdy new backpack.

With everything that’s going on, though, what can easily get left out of all this is something that is really quite important: a back-to-school dental visit with Dr. Mindy Salzberg-Siegel.

The reason back-to-school dental visits are so important is that the school year, which for a lot of students runs from August through May, is a hectic time for parents and children. Not only is there homework for kids to keep up with, there are also extracurricular activities like sports, theater, and band. Finding the time for a dental exam in between all that can be difficult, which is why it’s better to do it now than put it off till later.

What happens during a back-to-school dental visit?

First, Dr. Salzberg-Siegel will check for signs of common oral health problems, like cavities or gum disease. These are issues that should be treated sooner rather than later, when treatment will be more conservative and more comfortable.

Our Clinton Township team isn’t just interested in helping young patients treat problems, though. We’re also concerned about prevention. During the second part of your child’s back-to-school visit, we’ll take steps to prevent these common oral health problems through a professional cleaning, in addition to recommending home care tips, and, if we need to, discussing treatment options.

Are you ready to schedule your child’s back-to-school visit with Dr. Salzberg-Siegel? Call our Clinton Township dental office today. We’re proud to have been serving our community with great family dental care for more than 25 years.

The Importance of Freedom

July 13, 2012

We’ve just celebrated another Fourth of July, and from all of us at Dr. Salzberg-Siegel’s office, we hope you had a fun and safe holiday.

What’s more, with the Fourth still fresh on our minds, we’d like to use today’s post to talk a little bit about freedom.

Americans put a high value on freedom. It’s part of what makes our nation so great. Besides having the freedom to explore all the great corners of our country, freedom gives our children the chance to pursue their dreams, and makes it possible for all of us to live according to our beliefs, consciences, and talents.

That’s not all we’re talking about when we talk about freedom, though. You also have the freedom to choose your own dentist instead of having one chosen for you by your insurance. That means you can see the doctor who will give you the best care.

That’s incredibly important!

You want a dentist who is committed to protecting smiles from common problems like cavities.  At Dr. Mindy Salzberg-Siegel’s office in Clinton Township, we do that every day using CareFree’s great products. With CariFree, we can help our patients correct the bacterial imbalance that causes cavities to form, creating healthy smiles in the process.

If you’d like to know more about CariFree, or you’d like to learn more about cavities themselves, we hope you’ll visit the CariFree website. There, you’ll find a wealth of information on the myths associated with cavities and tips on preventing them. All of this is invaluable information.

We’d also like to invite you to give our Clinton Township dental office a call if it’s time for your next visit. During your appointment we can talk to you about your smile, CariFree’s many products, and tips for keeping your smile clean. Call us today. We’ve been serving patients from Clinton Township and beyond for more than 25 years and we look forward to helping you.

Planning On an Overseas Vacation This Summer?

June 14, 2012

Summer is coming, and with it, the summer vacation season. From now until August, families across the country will be taking off for some much-needed R&R after the busy school year. Where will you be going this year? Will your travel takes you to another state, or to a whole new country?

Vayama.com, one of the leading websites dedicated to international travel, has revealed this year’s top international travel destinations. They include:

  • India
  • New Zealand
  • South Africa
  • Peru
  • Brazil
  • China
  • Indonesia
  • London
  • Paris
  • St. Petersburg
  • Europe
  • Buenos Aires

Each of these famous destinations has plenty to enjoy, whether you’re looking for delicious food, relaxing amenities, or just a rich experience with history. What may be more difficult is finding a dentist in case of a dental emergency.

As you may know, America is one of the world leaders in dental care. Whether you’re looking for quality general, cosmetic, or restorative dental care, great dentists can be found everywhere. Great dentists can be found all over the world, for that matter, but finding one in a pinch while you’re on vacation can be a challenge.

If you know you need dental care, or if you haven’t stopped by our Clinton Township office for a visit yet, why not schedule an appointment with Dr. Salzberg-Siegel before your trip begins? You want to enjoy your vacation, not spend it worrying about whether you’ll need to find a dentist.

Call us today if you’re ready to schedule your pre-vacation appointment. And feel free to let us know about your vacation plans in the comments section. We’d love to hear what you’ll be doing!

How are you adjusting to your “Back to School” Schedule?!

September 26, 2011

School’s finally in full swing again, and that means you’ll have new academic goals, sporting events, and nutritional concerns to think about.   And although juggling all of these responsibilities can seem challenging, with a little effort you can make this year both healthy and safe.

Everyone looks forward to Friday night football, and the start of a new school year means football games are back.  But whether your child’s out there in the huddle or is involved in a different sport, like soccer, volleyball, basketball, baseball, or softball, a mouth guard is important. Besides protecting teeth, mouth guards can also protect an athlete’s lips, tongue, jaw, and face. What’s more, they can even reduce the severity of concussions. Make sure your child is protected with a custom-fitted mouth guard from our Clinton Township office.  This type of appliance is made by a professional lab to protect teeth while allowing the jaw to rest in a proper position during game play.
